我第一次接觸塔羅的時候，有人很神聖地告訴我「塔羅就是命運的指引」。我聽了以後覺得蠻無聊的。The first time I encountered tarot, someone solemnly told me "tarot is a guide to destiny." My reaction: boring.
命運早就決定了，那我們在這邊幹嘛？決策的全部意義就在於，我們可以選擇，而選擇會改變未來。所以塔羅如果是預測未來，那它就失去了最有趣的部分。If destiny's already written, what are we doing here? The whole point of decisions is that we can choose — and choices change the future. So if tarot just predicts the future, it misses the interesting part.

這樣的話，塔羅就不是宿命論，而是一個自省的工具。二十二張牌，就是二十二個不同的看事情的角度。當你抽到「愚者」時，它在說「新的開始等著你」。當你抽到「吊人」時，它在說「也許你需要停下來看看」。當你抽到「死神」時——別害怕，它不是字面的死亡。它說的是「改變已經開始了，拒絕改變才是危險」。This way, tarot isn't determinism — it's a tool for self-reflection. Twenty-two cards, twenty-two different angles. When you draw The Fool, it says "a new beginning awaits." When you draw The Hanged Man, "maybe you need to pause and look." When you draw Death — don't be scared, it's not literal death. It says "change has begun; refusing it is the danger."
